Bridges to Excellence

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) is licensed as a sponsor of the Bridges to Excellence  (BTE) Diabetic Care Recognition program and Cardiac Care Recognition programs.  The Diabetic Care Recognition and Cardiac Care Recognition programs aim to improve care for patients with diabetes and cardiac conditions by rewarding physicians who provide exceptional care. The BTE programs also demonstrate BCBSOK's commitment to improving the health and enhancing the wellness of its members.


Why Diabetes Care?

Diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, affecting 24 million Americans. Diabetes has multiple complications; the U.S. health care system pays more than $116 billion annually in medical costs.


Why Cardiac Care?

Cardiac disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, affecting 81 million Americans. The U.S. health care system pays more than $316 billion annually in medical costs to treat cardiac disease.

Become a BTE Recognized Physician

We invite physicians who treat persons with diabetes or cardiac disease to become BTE recognized  and have an opportunity to earn annual incentives for providing excellent care based on BTE guidelines. BCBSOK will pay a BTE recognized physician $100 per BCBSOK selected patient, per program year.
