New on AvailityTM: Enhanced Eligibility and Benefits Inquiry Screens and Functions

August 18, 2015

An increasing number of products, plans and networks is available to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) members. Some of your patients may be new BCBSOK members, some may be changing plans and some may be new to health insurance altogether. This makes checking eligibility and benefits even more important as an essential first step before providing care and services.

Electronic options are available for a variety of transactions, including eligibility and benefits requests. For example, The Availity Eligibility and Benefits Inquiry tool is available to registered Availity Web Portal users. This tool was enhanced recently with new screens and functions to help increase user friendliness. Enhancements include a request page that offers multi-patient lookup, a results list that can store up to 200 patient inquiries from the past 24 hours and expanded menu options.

Visit the Availity Eligibility page for tip sheets and additional information.

If you have questions or would like to schedule a training webinar to learn more about how to navigate the new screens, email our Provider Education Consultants at pecs@bcbsok.com.

Checking eligibility and/or benefit information is not a guarantee of payment. Benefits will be determined once a claim is received and will be based upon, among other things, the member's eligibility, any claims received during the interim period and the terms of the member’s certificate of coverage applicable on the date services were rendered.
